intermediate swim lessons
Age: 2 - 5 years. Class size: 4 children. Session Length: 30 min/12 weeks.
Intermediate 1 is for children who can float on their back independently for 10 seconds, swim with their face in the water, and can control their breathing for a distance. They should be able to enter and exit the water independently, but may still need some assistance. Students should be able to swim on their belly with their toes up with minor flotation assistance.
Age: 6 - 8 years. Class size: 5 children. Session Length: 30 min/12 weeks.
Students entering Intermediate 2 should be able to back float independently for a minimum of 5 seconds and be willing to put their face in the water with some breath control. They may be a little behind Intermediate 1, but should progress faster through the skills based on their age. Independence on entry and exit is a must for this class. Intermediate 2 is not appropriate for children who are uncomfortable or scared in the water.
Age: 9 - 12 years. Class size: 5 children. Session Length: 30 min/12 weeks.
Children in Intermediate 3 should be able to back float and kick on their back. We focus on kick technique and breath control at the beginning of the session. Students will then learn and practice proper body technique and rotation. Students should progress through these skills quickly, and will likely get exposure to more advanced skills as the session progresses. Intermediate 2 is not appropriate for children who are uncomfortable or scared in the water.
